Launchpad—6 weeks (2-week Blueprint: discovery & architecture; 4-week Ignition: design & MVP delivery)

Launched on the web, iOS & Android. Full ownership transferred to the client.

Challenge

Turn a data-rich clinic into a data-intelligent one, without adding headcount.

Results

A validated architecture, a working mobile MVP, and a costly CRM mistake avoided.

The data was there,
but not the intelligence

The challenge

BioEQ’s founder built the product alongside Dr. Suzanne Ferree, a double board-certified physician at Vine Medical Associates, a Human Performance and Longevity Medicine clinic in Atlanta. Her years treating executives and athletes shaped the exact problem VITech and BioEQ set out to solve.

Functional Medicine clinics collect more patient data than almost any other practice type: wearables, labs, EMR records. None of it connected into action.

The product existed, but the business wasn't ready

to launch. What looked like a nearly finished platform carried real operational and technical risk underneath the surface.

And the timing made that risk expensive. Recruiting season was closing in, a narrow window to gain traction with athletes, coaches, and sports organizations. Miss it, and growth, customer acquisition, and product momentum all get pushed to next season.

Providers reviewed charts one by one, with no population-level view

Office managers juggled calls, emails, and EMR portals, with no prioritization

Members saw their own data with no guidance on what to do with it

CRM choice still open. HubSpot and Salesforce unproven in clinical workflows

EMRs like Athena are built to store data, but they can’t make sense of it. As the clinics BioEQ served grew, chart-by-chart review and inbox triage stopped keeping up.

For BioEQ, the challenge went beyond connecting data. The company needed to determine which workflows would create the most value for Functional Medicine clinics and what to build first.

Scale delivery month-to-month from 2 to 4 engineers as the roadmap needs command. Add up to two engineers in 48 hours. Flow includes delivery stories and Innovation Summits—our customer-driven hackathons—to fuel differentiation in the market.

Discovery first, code second

The solution

BioEQ came in with a clear vision and three open questions that could make or break the product:

The product existed, but the business wasn't ready

to launch. What looked like a nearly finished platform carried real operational and technical risk underneath the surface.

And the timing made that risk expensive. Recruiting season was closing in, a narrow window to gain traction with athletes, coaches, and sports organizations. Miss it, and growth, customer acquisition, and product momentum all get pushed to next season.

Where does the MVP end?

Can AI be safely constrained to Functional Medicine knowledge?

Should the platform build on an external CRM or its own?

Through Launchpad, VITech put each question on the table with its options and trade-offs, and BioEQ made the call.

Key decisions made during Blueprint

CRM: rejected

HubSpot, Salesforce, and GoHighLevel—all built for marketers, not clinic staff. Recommended a lightweight, purpose-built engagement module instead, agreed on in week 2.

Athena EMR: read-only

Read-only via Certified FHIR API with 3-legged OAuth. Athena stays the system of record.

Terra API: one integration for 300+ devices

Oura, WHOOP, Apple Health, and more—one integration instead of building device-by-device.

AI: constrained by design

RAG grounded in Functional Medicine knowledge, clinic protocols, and provider rules. Bounded, explainable, human-reviewed.

Mason Beard

Founder, BioEQ

The team presented a logical set of options, and we chose the best workflow to demonstrate the platform’s communication infrastructure. When a founder has an idea, they naturally gravitate towards the ‘ambitious features’, but the team did a great job grounding my thought process around what features will serve as the practical foundation.

What was built during Ignition

Core member flows (service requests, appointment booking, therapy, lab test requests) were built in Flutter for iOS and Android. A web portal gives providers cohort search and a population view.

Office managers see a structured work queue where every request appears with context, priority, and a clear action. Before, it was calls, emails, and guesswork.

After VITech

Providers query the full patient population in plain language, and AI surfaces who needs attention.

and a clear action.

Members receive physician-validated recommendations

and clear next steps.

The impact

Six weeks turned three open questions into a validated architecture and a working MVP:

No added headcount

No replaced clinical judgment. AI augments providers, it doesn't replace them

No handoff, no lost context

The same team that ran discovery also built the MVP

Vision made tangible

The Blueprint design concepts were the point where Mason saw the product for the first time

The visualizations gave me the confidence that the team understood my vision, which enabled them to make suggestions for our path forward. Without that confidence, I would question all the advice.

What's next
